Council has deferred discussion on the future of the Port Perry Fairgrounds to Q1 2027, leaving one of Scugog’s most important public properties without a final long-term direction for the time being.
The deferral creates additional time for residents, the Port Perry Agricultural Society and other stakeholders to consider what the property should provide for the community in the decades ahead.
The annual Fair and the agricultural identity of the site remain central to the discussion. At the same time, questions continue about recreation, year-round public use, gathering space and how the property should evolve as Scugog grows.
